March 30, 2025: Fifth Sunday – Bread for the World Offering of Letters

New Journey members and friends have twice written in recent years to support Bread for the World’s annual offering of letters. In light of current federal budget cuts to national and international nutrition programs, and the Grand Canyon Synod’s #1 priority of addressing hunger, our upcoming letter focuses on domestic and world funding for hunger relief. Download a copy of the letter here.

The cessation of USAID funding is significant. Rick Steves of “Monday Night Travel” is an ardent Bread for the World supporter. He and Bread for the World CEO Rev. Eugene Cho recently broadcast an updated episode on world hunger, which you can view here. If you have not heard Rev. Cho speak, you can hear his December 29, 2024 address to the Arizona Faith Network here (forward to 39:25).

As always, you may elect to write your own letter here, or pick up a red “advocacy packet” envelope on Sunday, March 30 to take home. Our senators and representatives need to hear from us as they work through this challenging period in which historical norms are being tested across all branches of government.
