Loneliness and Christianity – An Invitation to Learn and Serve
Have you spotted someone standing alone in the middle of a fellowship gathering? Have you listened to the many news reports on loneliness? Have you thought “but what can I do?”
Here’s a place to start! Northeast Valley Consortium (NEVC), in conjunction with the Grand Canyon Synod, and California Lutheran University, presents a timely and pertinent presentation, “Loneliness: How to live and serve faithfully to those within our community.”
Join Rev. Dr. Colleen Windham-Hughes, Associate Vice President for Mission and Identity, California Lutheran University and NEVC for the 3rd Annual Christian education seminar as we delve into ways to serve those experiencing loneliness. Christianity offers unique perspectives on the challenge of loneliness, emphasizing the importance of community connection and the cultivation of solitude with God.
Saturday, April 13, 2024, 1-4 pm at Living Water Lutheran Church

Why We Are
Many congregations around the United States are facing challenges. These may include: forming Christian community with members, children and neighbors and a disconnect between church practices and people’s daily lives. The Northeast Valley Consortium is learning how to navigate these disruptive shifts in congregational life by collaborating in ministry for the sake of the Gospel.
How We Are
We are team driven and organized around passion-informed projects in response to the needs in our communities and cities:
Communications & Public Relations
Caring for our Neighbors: Housing & Raising Funds for Afghan Evacuees
Christian Education: Adult Vacation Bible School
Spiritual Practices: Learning How to Follow Jesus in Daily Life
Guest Lecturer Events such as “Faith Formation in the Secular Age” with Dr. Andy Root, March 2022
The Northeast Valley Consortium, partnered with the Grand Canyon Synod, is learning that together we can do ministry bigger and bolder, going further than we ever imagined. We are learning. And so far, we have learned that the best way forward into God’s future is not on our own, but together. By God’s grace, we are collaborating in ministry for the sake of the Gospel.
