Join us Sunday at The Fountains UMC for World Communion Day

In honor of World Communion Day, the people of New Journey Lutheran Church and The Fountains UMC are worshipping and communing together on Sunday, October 6 at 9:30 am at The Fountains UMC.

On October 6, congregations around the globe will celebrate World Communion Sunday which began in 1936. It is an international ecumenical celebration of Christian unity.

The key word for World Communion Sunday is communion. It is a day when we mark the almost universal Christian practice of breaking bread with one another and remembering the night of Jesus’ betrayal—when Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper or Last Supper among his disciples.

There is also an echo of the festival of Pentecost—the creation of the church according to Acts 2— where people from all around the Mediterranean world were empowered by the Spirit to understand each other in their native languages. World Communion Sunday is a time for remembering that around the globe—in different languages, traditions, customs and forms of worship—we are all followers of Jesus who gather at the table to break bread.

We honor this day by worshiping with our siblings in faith at The Fountains UMC.

The Fountains UMC is located at 15300 N. Fountain Hills Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268
