Greetings!

If you have found your way to New Journey Lutheran Church, we hope you have experienced meaningful worship, spiritual nourishment, and a warm welcome.

Throughout the year, we gather for Sunday morning worship at 10:00 am both in-person and online. Like all faith communities, we continue to live with the impact of COVID-19 and are discovering what it means to be “rooted again” in worship life and practices. So far, we have discovered that feeling rooted happens when we are face-to-face, in-person, and sharing the same physical space as safely as possible. When we were unable to worship and host in-person activities, we longed to hear one another’s voices raised in song and prayer, we longed to share the peace of God with one another, we longed to be part of community gathered around Jesus. Now, we are rediscovering these gifts in a changed world, and we invite you to be part of it.

At New Journey Lutheran Church, we celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday and all are welcome to participate. We believe that Jesus—not the church or the pastor—is the host of this meal, and Jesus does not turn anyone away. Children are welcome at the table as early as parents deem appropriate. Those who do not wish or cannot receive communion are welcome to come forward for a blessing.

Following worship on Sunday morning, we typically gather for coffee, goodies and time to connect and build community. This time offers us the opportunity to establish new relationships, tend to established relationships, and share in the important value of fellowship.

We are a community where uncertainties and questions are valued, where full participation in the life of the church and world is encouraged, where we recognize that we are all journeying together and no one is perfect. In addition to working out our questions and uncertainties in community, New Journey Lutheran is a worshipping community invested in discerning and meeting the needs of the most vulnerable among us. Whether through the quilting ministry of the Sew Journers, providing food and goods for local agencies, collaborating in community projects with other local congregations, or exploring what it means to live our faith out in the public square, we are thankful for the many ways God calls us to love and serve our neighbor.

My heart is filled to the brim with gratitude for the community of New Journey Lutheran Church. Learning from and leading this community in my first years of ministry is one of the greatest blessings of my life and I am deeply grateful to God. I hope you will join us in the mission God has given us in becoming an “instrument of God’s love for all people.”

Grace and peace,

Pastor Beth Gallen
