You are invited to join us for a Lenten Soup & Study. On Wednesday evenings in March, we will journey through the historical, cultural and spiritual contexts of the Bible over a soup supper using David Lose’s book, Making Sense of Scripture. We will explore questions such as: “What is the Bible?” “Is the Bible true?” “Where did the Bible Come from?” and “How can I read the Bible with greater understanding?”
We will examine these topics, and have a good conversational journey along the way, as part of New Journey’s 2023 Lenten season. We will meet on the five Wednesdays of Lent, March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 in person (with the option of joining us via Zoom) at 5:30 pm. We will combine this study with a Soup Supper and then come together for a short Lenten Service at 6:45 pm.
While having a copy of David Lose’s book is not required, it is available in hard copy or digital copy by way of Amazon (print and digital) and Augsburg Fortress (print). There will be a limited number of print copies available at New Journey for use if you prefer not to purchase a copy.
We hope you will join us for these events. Don’t worry, there won’t be a final exam at the end! Bring your questions about the holy scriptures and your curiosity about how the Bible fits in our spiritual lives.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pastor Beth (pastorbeth@njlc-fh.org) or Mike Bartanen (mbartanen@comcast.net) for further information.
