Pastor David Sivecz Thanks NJLC for Summer Lunches

The Northeast Valley Consortium’s 2024 Heat Respite lunch topped 2,000 lunches on Monday, August 12 as the location for delivery moved from Grace Lutheran Church and First United Church of Christ in central Phoenix to Wesley United Methodist Church and nearby heat respite hubs in south Phoenix. Grace's pastor, Rev. David Sivecz, provided the following note of thanks to all who have participated in the project to-date.

Friends in Christ,

I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude for your help and support this summer.  This was my first summer at Grace Lutheran Church, and hosting a Heat Respite program.  I saw and learned a ton.  So, thank you for your patience and understanding.  Also, I appreciate your openness to sharing lunches with a neighboring congregation - First Church UCC.  Remember, the ELCA has a "full communion" partnership with the United Church of Christ.  This is an example of how different traditions can work together for the mission of God.  Most importantly, please know that your support literally helped save lives from the brutal Phoenix summer.

As [Grace office administrator] Patricia said, "We all learned a lot, and now we will be better equipped to address a significant need in our community next year with all hiccups solved."

Thank you again!

God Bless,

Pastor David Sivecz

The 2024 NEVC collaboration wraps up with lunch packs at Ascension Lutheran on 8/19, Living Water 8/26, and New Journey 9/8 for God's Work. Our Hands. Sunday.
