New Journey Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you to Sharon and Harry Vaughan for stepping up to be New Journey’s “Connectors” for Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest. The purpose of the connector network is to strengthen communication about LSS-SW needs and opportunities among churches and other partners across the region. Looking ahead: LSS-SW’s annual “Building Foundations” luncheon is February 27, 2025, 11:30-1:00, at the Marriott at Phoenix Airport. Stay tuned for more updates from Harry and Sharon!

Grand Canyon Hunger Leaders Network:  This group meets virtually on the last Tuesday of every month from 6:00-7:00pm to support all hunger-related efforts among synod congregations. Addressing hunger is the top priority of the Grand Canyon Synod and we can learn more about collaborative opportunities to do our part more effectively. New Journey needs to name a representative to this group! Please let Pr. Beth know of your interest.

Family Promise at Fountains UMC:  The next opportunity to partner is December 8-14. Our Fountains friends were so appreciative of New Journey’s help in October! Family Promise supports 3-4 families experiencing an episode of homelessness to stay overnight at the Fountains while they are working to return to being housed. You can sign-on to bring food (what if NJ hosted one dinner that week??), join a dinner one evening to visit with the families, or come for supper and get a short tour. Let Brenda, Jane, Liz, or Kris know and we’ll get you connected.
