It is hard to believe that three months of Saturday evening worship has come to a close. From the first Saturday in January through the last Saturday of March, several members of New Journey shifted their worship participation to Saturday so that there’d be people here to welcome guests drawn to a new worship time. Guests did join us, and several of those guests are now worshiping with us regularly. We are so grateful that the Spirit of God has brought these new people to be with us. Our members also shifted to Saturday night so that we could open up seats on Sunday morning for guests who joined us. And again, the Spirit of God has brought us guests who have joined us in singing and praying and serving.
I believe that every time we open ourselves to worship God in a way that makes room for a guest, a stranger, God coming to us disguised as an angel, we are blessed. We become more fully who God has called us to be – generous, compassionate and loving. We reflect more fully the face of God in this place.
An abundance of thanks to everyone who worshiped on Saturday evenings and who welcomed everyone who came through our doors. Heaping thanks to everyone who prayed for our Saturday evening worship and who supported it through participating in our Saturday service projects and dinner church. Together, we continue to be God’s presence in this place.
It will be good to have everyone together again in worship on Sunday mornings. As we revel in being together for the remainder of the year, I can’t help but wonder what the Spirit will entice us to consider in our worship offerings in the future. Let me know how the Spirit speaks to you. I’ll keep you tuned in on what I hear!! It’s an exciting time to be part of God’s church.
