You are invited to make use of Maundy Thursday @ Home. Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of what often is called “The Easter Tridiuum”—the three days of remembering the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. On this day, we hear Jesus give us a new commandment: to “love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34). Maundy Thursday centers around the institution of the Lord’s Supper, invites the community into the ritual of washing feet and concludes with the stripping of the altar. Even though our community is not gathering together for Maundy Thursday worship this year, this guide is intended to honor the day in your own home through prayer, scripture reading and sensory experiences. I pray this guide will enrich your worship life and draw you deeply into the story of our Lord.
A few notes on the guide:
- This guide can be used by individuals and households with more than one person
- Please note, there is a supply list on page two intended to enrich the Maundy Thursday experience
- The red, italicized text are the instructions for each portion of the guide
- The guide invites you into bread baking to remember the Lord’s Supper, this is optional as it requires multiple ingredients
I pray this guide will enrich your faith life and draw you into the story of our Lord.
With joy,
Pastor Beth
